Professor Shevchenko is a PhD, Doctor of Physico-Mathematical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Academician of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine, an Honoured Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine.
He was born on January 5 in 1941 in the village Pidgorodne of Dnipropetrovsk district in Dnipropetrovsk region.
After completing his post-graduate study he worked at Dnipropetrovsky State University. Since 1973 he held the dean's position in the faculty of mathematics, the position of the department of theoretical and applied mechanics, the Pro-Rector for the educational process.
Professor Shevchenko is the author of over 120 scientific i works, including textbooks and monographs.
He has been elected a deputy of Donetsk Regional Council.
Professor Shevchenko is a Member of the Council for science and scientific-technical policy attached to the president of Ukraine, the State Accreditation Board of the National Council of the Congress of Ukrainian Intelligentsia, of the Ukrainian National Committee in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, a Member of the Presidium of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine and the Higher Certifying Commission of .Ukraine.
Professor Shevchenko is the Head of Donetsk Scientific Centre of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Council of Rectors of Higher Educational Establishments of Donetsk region, of Donetsk regional association "Prosvita" (Education).
He is the recioient of several scientific and governmental awards, including the 5th and 4th degrees. Order named after Jaroslav Mudry, the 4th degree St Prince Volodymyr's Order, the Order of the President of Ukraine, the signs "Shakhtarska Slava" of the 3d degree, "For the excellent progress in the sphere of the higher education of the USSR", the diploma of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. The winner of the governmental award for science and technology in 2004, the Order of France "Academic Palm" (France). |
